BEING A FAN OF THE BAND FOR ALMOST 20 YEARS, IT WAS SO AMAZING TO GET TO TEAM UP WITH THEM ON THE MAJORITY OF THE ART DIRECTION LEADING UP TO THE RELEASE OF THEIR ALBUM “I FEEL LIKE I’M BECOMING A GHOST”
The Problem:
The band has had some struggles in the past with merch, creative direction etc and were coming back as the original lineup releasing new music after well over 10 years together. They needed people to see what they were up to and connect with it again, in a professional and proper looking way.
The Solution
We had several meetings to brainstorm and moodboard how we could support the album (which was already recorded) and have it mesh with the album artwork they already had done by another artist. The band knew they would need a lot of work - between posters, merch designs, spotify canvases, video ads, and a lot more.
Pre-Order campaign ads
The band was self funding this record and decided to run a kickstarter with some great perks.
Fans were excited for sure but the band had a hard time identifying how to reach fans who had not heard the news that the
band was back yet - so we put together some ads to run to spread the word and showcase the vinyl pre-order as well as videos calling out the new singles and kickstarter updates.
New Merch
I designed a couple of new merch/Poster designs for the band now that they were starting to play new shows again.
COMEBACK TOUR ADMATS
The band planned out their first small tour as this original lineup in years and I wanted to make sure there were some great static and video assets to push out these show dates and to run as advertisements targeted near the venues.
Alt screen printed album artwork
To celebrate the release, I designed and screen printed a limited run of 100 (50 for sale to fans and 50 for friends and family) Alternative designed covers printed on 100lb french paper.
Spotify Canvas / playlist
We shot some original assets to use for spotify canvas as well as Apple Motion
Along with this I created some artwork for their “Early Years” Playlist on Spotify.
